There may be something goofy with your Windows user profile. Typically you can troubleshoot this by creating a new user account and logging on with the new "test" account. If the problem does not surface under the new user account you just have to copy a few folders over.
Try also clearing your Temporary Internet Cache and cookies.

Its not commonly a grafix card problem and everyone here has the right I deas and are all on the right track. check and see how much free space you have on you HDD also if you do not have enough availabe space for virtual memory it could also be a problem you may need to go through and uninstall any unused programs to free hdd space. Another common cause for what you are experiencing is lack of resources ie low memory..

No it is not your graphics Card. Common problems like this are usually caused by a bug. The easiest way to fix this is to reinstall windows.

Could be graphics card, bad connection with card, or even cooling fans and vents are dirty. Things act up if they get hot, and dust can really mess with airflow.

TRY THIS START/ALL PROGRAMS/START UP REMOVE UNNECASARY PROGRAMS..........OR TRY CNTRL+ALT+DELETE THEN CLOSE DOWN THE TASK MANAGER PROGRAMS THATS WHAT I DO WORKS GREAT BUT NOT RECOMMENED FOR EVERYONE
