I need some help with some Status Quo lyrics. What does it mean in the song In the Army when he sings the following-
'Smiling faces as you wave too-lan,
But once you're there no-one gives a damn'
What does too-lan (not sure of spelling) mean? I'm sure that's what he's singing anyway...I've just been listening to it again.

It means that when the soldier is leaving to go fight for your country, everyone waves to you in appreceiation, but once your over sea's fighting for your country, no one gives a damn about you. Your just an expendable life. To add to that, most of the time your treated like sh_t by your own gov. when you get back.
