Many fish species can be trained to perform various tasks, but it seems goldfish are exceptional. They have a memory span of several months in the least and can smell out different substances, as well as performing various stupid tricks for human amusement. If you see the youtube video of the goldfish swimming in unison you should know its doctored and the one real fish in the video may have been made to swallow a magnet to get it to swim in the right direction.
Yes, it is doctored, they are fantail goldfish. Fantails need to use a lot of energy to swim. They wiggle their bodies strongly back and forth to get a little movement. These fish are being pulled through the water with no effort on their part. It is also the same fish four times over.

I don't want to admit it, because i can't stand goldfish, but I know Oscar Cichlids are very smart fish, although they grow HUGE and cannot be kept in any tank under 100 gallons, they can become very personable and will recognize the person feeding them, will even eat out of their hands, and swim to the front of the tank upon the owners arrival.

i'm hoping you're no longer preserving the goldfish with the tetras and the betta! they are chilly water, something are no longer. Plus the quantity of ammonia that goldfish produce is insane. for 3 goldfish i'm assuming you have a minimum of a 60 gallon tank for them. in case you do no longer, reassess possessing them. i comprehend it sounds ridiculous yet once you do the maths, small tanks do exactly no longer pass properly. And no, goldfish are no longer very spectacular.

Does this answer your question? Oh, and these are all live fish and there are no magnets involved. That's an urban legend created by people who refuse to believe that goldfish could possibly be that smart.

Well, all I know is that pigs are the smartest domesticated animals. Weird but surprisingly true.

I don't think so. I heard that goldfish only have a short term memory of 3 seconds.
