Organic chemistry is the branch of chemistry that deals with carbon-based compounds--hydrocarbons mostly, that is, compounds containing carbon, hydrogen and a few other elements (e.g. nitrogen, chlorine, bromine etc.). It deals with how these compounds form, react and interact with one another, in terms of how their atoms exchange electrons. Organic chemistry is essential to the pharmaceutical industry for this reason, because it's how we manufacture our medicines.
Depending on who you ask, some people will say that organic chemistry is easy, and others will say it's the most difficult subject on this planet. If you have taken general chemistry (or have taken chemistry in high school), you should be aware that organic is quite different. Personally, I found it to be easier. There is much less number crunching, and much more actual thought involved. You have to think about the reactions, draw them out, and know the mechanisms of how things happen. There is a fair amount of memorization involved, but in my experience, things just tend to make sense and fall into place once you grasp the basics.
It is certainly not a light course to take, but is very rewarding, because it teaches you to think on a level few other things can teach. If you're interested in biology or chemistry and are pursuing, or intend to pursue either in terms of a career, organic is something you'll have to experience, and it is of great benefit to come in with an open mind and not be scared by the horror stories.

Organic chemistry is only chemistry containing the element carbon. It shouldn't be any harder than inorganic chemsitry. Hydrocarbons are not neccesarily considered organic compounds.

It one of the most interesting parts of chemistry. Just some mechanisms are a little boring but It's easy at all.

organic chemistry is mostly about carbon and hydrogen stuff . so u can say that it is more likely hydrocarbon thing. not only that it also tells us the structure of different kind of poly carbon chains and stuff like that.
