Maintaining long-lasting friendships is not as easy as it might seem at first. Much emphasis should be placed on communication, trust, and sometimes forgiveness. Throughout the many years of friendship, one person may intentionally or unintentionally hurt you or betray your trust. They might do or say something that will hit you at the core but if its a true friendship, it should survive all hits. What you have to realize is that no one is perfect and that everyone has their shortcomings. As a human being who makes mistakes and at times fails, you must accept your friends for who they are and realize that it's very hard for people to change. What you can do is maintain clear communication and always let your friend know if what he or she does hurts or upsets you. Try not to get into heated arguments. Simply sit down and go over all the thing that seem to bother you in this friendship. To keep the union lively, go out and do something fun with your friend. It could simply be going to watch a movie or staying at home to watch a football game over some popcorn. And always know that a true friendship can withstand the test of time and tribulations. If you're meant to be friends with that person, the friendship will survive and thrive. If not, then that person simply did not bring out the best in you. But there are plenty of people that will enter your life throughout your lifetime, so you're bound to find those friends that will last forever.

Some friendships last, but not a lot. I think the reason is because you grow up and change, and your friends have to adjust to the changes. Sometimes, they cant. And sometimes, they can. It just depends. Also, sometimes you get in an awful fight, and you just cant work through it. Its a shame, but its life. Like with your story-it was an argument that the two of you couldnt work through. It sucks, really, and sometimes the peron your friends with, wont cooperate and try to fix things. Im sorry about you losing your friends.

Sometimes, you just grow apart without noticing. Don't worry; everyone has (or will) been/be in that situation. It's normal and just a part of life. Get some new friends. There's a lot of new people for you to meet. ;) Good luck.

Its natural, everyone grows up. My bff for 3 years got in a fight over a stupid thing. We split up. I made new friends. Everyone grows up. If you think you will lose this friend, talk about it and maybe you guys need a break. Ask for time off. Its fine!

Some do. Like mine. They key is to try to commuincate. Even when they dont communicate with you. Does not always mean they do not like you even more. It might be because of a tradegy, stress, ect. Dont give up!!! And call them once and a while and chat and plan a time to get together in person... Hope that helps!

As you grow older your views, opinions, and interests change. Try becoming interested in things your friends are into, even if you don't really like them. If they are true friends they will give equal time to things that interest you.
