i just purchased a new generator for emergency power backup that has a briggs and stratton engine on it. is there a conversion kit that will change it from running on regular gasoline to propane so that i can hook it up to my house propane tank?

most likely.........you will need the [model,type,& code]#s........labled on the blower housing of the engine. go to your nearest power equiptment distributor........tell them what you want to do.............they will tell you what you need to change......carb.& fuel tank go......may have to change a valve or two.........may have to alter timing.......replace carbureator with a L.P.gas valve.....................not too hard if your mechanically inclined!

i own a repair shop,and there is a conversion kit for doing this on line,i don't remember the site ,but there are some Briggs engines that do run on propane already,but you can do a search for the kits and probably find one,i seen a home made version of one and it worked really well it was made from a pressure valve and a reducer with a pressure reading valve on it much like a fork lift has,but it works real well,and will run forever on a one of the large cylinders you might want to check in to it,anything these days can be converted over,good luck i hope this help,s.
