The magic eraser from mr clean really does work. Also, a product in the automotive cleaning area called Tuff Stuff works magic on walls and carpet. I just found out that you should not clean your walls until the paint has been on for at least 30 days so if u have fesh paint ..don't touch it.

If you are trying to get the smell off, you won't. Paint it, it is easier. Also add a couple of drops of vanilla to a gallon of paint. If you need to wash marks off, made by metal like alunimum - use some Ajax or Comet on a cloth and get the spots. Basically you are removing a thin layer of paint to remove the mark. Then wash a larger area with a water only(maybe a little dish soap) to take off the oil based dirt. That will get off hand prints.

Hi, Have you ever used microfibre cloths. These are special coths you can get from the supermarket which removes dirt and grime only using water and saving paint on walls. The kitchen cloths are great so shop around. These can cost anywhere between $5 and $10 a cloth depending on brands but will last for years if looked after. Good luck. P.S. try and stay away from magic erasers on your walls as they are very potent and on some serfaces can do so real damage.

The only experience I have had is cleaning prior to painting. What works very well is 1 1/2 ounces of TSP(available at hardware stores) and 1 ounce of **** and Span powder not liquid (available at grocery stores) per 1/2 gallon of water. It will remove dirt and marks that do not penetrate the paint as well as 30 years of smoke and grease.
