The best bet would be going to a salon and getting them professionally done for the first time. They are experts and they can do them very nicely. If you do them yourself, you might accidentally make them to thin.

It's really difficult to go from bushy to thin with tweasers. Salons charge about 5 to 15 dollars for waxing. When tweasing its hard to shape them perfectly, and this is where the professionals come in. I get mine waxed about every 2 months and in between I twease the small stray hairs that grow in. It's so much easier than tweasing them when they are completely grown in. If you absolutely want to twease at home try these steps:
(I use to do this when I was afraid to wax and it worked great)

If the pain is too great, try using teething gel for babies, it works great in numbing the area before tweasing

To get a good shape start by using a light colored eyeliner pencil (perferably white) to color in the areas under your eyebrows which you think should be plucked.

1. Pull the skin taut and remove hairs as close as possible to the root
2. Pluck in the direction of the growth
3. Shape your eyebrows by plucking from underneath rather that from above to create a natural arch.
4. At the end, using a eyebrow brush, brush the hairs upward and trim the our of place hairs with eyebrow cutters (or small sissors)
5. For closing the pores of the skin after plucking- use an splash warm water on your face and use an astrigent (I use warm petroleum jelly)

To avoid pain also don't pluck during menstration, everything is more sensitive then.

It's not easy to go from bushy to thin using just tweezers. What I would do is get a white eyeliner pencil and pencil in the shape you want your eyebrows to be (just the outline). Then apply orajel to your eyebrows to numb them a little. Then pluck! Afterwards wash the eyeliner off with some eye makeup remover and warm water. Good luck.

Instead of tweezing, I would recommend getting your eyebrows threaded. A piece of regular old thread is used to remove the hair. Less painful and more precise than waxing and tweezing, threading is also very affordable. If you are dead-set on tweezing, so it after a shower and the hair will be easier to pull out. Also invest in a good pair of tweezers - they really are worth the extra money.

Please be careful!!! I tweezed my beautiful full brows when I was young into very thin ones and they never grew back!!! I have tried everything, rogaine, nioxin, you name it but nothing works. Trends come and go, but thin brows aren't always in style wheras a classy groomed full brow is always gorgeous. Go to a salon to get them shaped up but don't take the tweezers up yourself. You may make a decision you will always regret! Another great tip is to have the salon trim them. If they are long or curly this is a great way to clean them up...

Get them professionally done at a salon. The people there will know what shape of brow will look best on you! Once they shape your brows, all you have to do is maintain it. I woundn't suggest that you do it yourself. You could end up over-tweezing or your eyebrows could end up not symmetrical.

Go to a salon and get them threaded. It doesn't hurt as much as waxing and you don't have to worry about geing burnt by excessively hot wax. This way you wont have to worry about over tweezing

Threading is an old and inexpensive hair removal technique to shape eyebrows.
