Webster dictionary says that "Faġgot" is a male homosexual. Is this the new "N" word? .... the "F" word.

Gay men are called "gay men". ;)

"Gay" used to just always be used by itself, pretty much meaning "not straight". But, because of the patriarchy in this country:
1) people were more willing to "look the other way" for lesbians, because "that's hot", and so they found a sort of invisibility and
2) the "gay community" itself was often guilty of the same patriarchical leanings.
Women wanted a word to just kind of remind people that "hey, gay means women too!". So we have Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual (presumably for similar reasons; they exist too, and are often a part of the same rights issues).

The word "******" has a very disturbing history that many are not aware of.

During the witch trials, gay men were literally tied up in bundels, like sitcks, and burnt at the feet of the witch. So the next time you hear this word, just think of how many were murdered and what it really means. It is a word filled with hate and prejudice.

Very often in the gay community (and i'm speaking where I come from it may be different from where you are etc...) the word lesbian is used for a homosexual woman and the word gay refers to a male homosexual. Of course I understand if someone says "that girls gay" but generally I associate lesbian with a woman and gay with a man.

It's really the way you use the word, where as Gay seems to be more of an adjective, while Lesbian is more of a noun. And therefore the way it is used and your wording is a little different depending on whether you are talking about a woman or a man.

Why is a female only female, but man (human, e.g. when used in history, they always talk about 'when man evolved', never about females?)...I think it just evolved that way...
