Willys cynical thought for the fugging day;

People who love sausage and respect the law should never watch either of them being made!

TAXES

What Happened? At first I thought this was funny...then I realized the awful truth of it. Be sure to read all the way to the end!

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.

Tax his cow,
Tax his goat, (See Devo & RR you ain't immune! LMAO)
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think.

Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries, then
Tax his tears.

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his ***

Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers,
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.

Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he's laid.

Put these words
upon his tomb,
"Taxes drove me
to my doom..."

When he's gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply
The inheritance tax.

COMMENTS: Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, and our nation was the most prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What happened??? And I still have to "press 1" for English I hope this goes around the world 10 times.......

I worked out a weekly paycheck once
Federal, State, all the withheld stuff, insurance etc., that was most all the first two days.
Rent, bills, groceries, that was about all the rest,
Cigarettes, I have to hope for overtime and then, I get taxed extra for that.
How many times can I get taxed on the same dollar???
I figure that this is what happens when you let politicians run the Country.
Don't tell me about voting either, I do and it doesn't change.
Good post, I dropped in here to see if anything was new.

Education in most schools is utterly terrible, largely as a result of endless meddling caused by politicians constantly wanting meaningless statistics to try and vindicate their policies. This basically means that schools teach to pass tests rather than actually teach the subjects, as you've said. Yes, it is largely a test of your memory (and to a limited extent your understanding) and it doesn't demonstrate anything other than you have the ability to follow instructions. Unfortunately some of it is necessary, everyone should know how to write for example so in this respect it's more about developing the skills. You've also pointed out the other problem which is that everything is geared towards what kind of job you're going to get, I'd personally advise you to do what you're interested in and build a career from that. I don't agree with you about the degree. It largely depends on what you do. Some degrees will get you a job in most cases, generally the more career specific courses, others won't. As far as I'm aware there are no jobs that used to require a degree that now ask for a PhD given that a PhD is a fairly specific training course for research. Also, the teaching at universities (or, more precisely, good universities) is assessed far more on the basis of understanding the subject than simply recalling facts. It's very difficult to get a good degree at a good university by just attending the lectures. The inflation in this case has largely been caused by reclassifying technical schools as universities and practical, vocational subjects as degree courses. I agree with you that the education system needs fixing, I don't think your assessment that it's not worth anything is correct. It will change when it becomes more about imparting knowledge and the tools to acquire knowledge rather than political point scoring. For now I'd advise you to stick with it, A-levels are a pain but they're over fairly soon, it's just one more hoop to jump through. If you decide you want to do a degree, go for it, but don't feel pressured into staying in education if you'd prefer to do something else. How much it's worth depends entirely on what you do. However you're better off pursuing something you're interested in rather than something someone tells you to do.
