Like if you have a fair sized chip. and if not then what do they do for it?

It will depend on where the chip is, and how large it is. If it is fairly large, and more toward the knee, then you should have a cast...if it is near the ankle, they may just give you one of those attractive boots to wear for a while. I am not sure, though...you should see your Doc

I did that, too. In the bathtub. Ouch!

I had an air cast, just to keep it from cracking any more, but didn't need a traditional plaster cast.
