The main purpose of life is to learn and share what you learn. Reproduction is not necessary or even possible for all.

Love is the most important thing that you learn to share appropriately. It is why we are here.

There are 6.5 Billion people on the planet. Each of us has our own main purpose in life. For some that does not revolve around reproduction. Does a sterile person have NO purpose? No. Nor is any other purpose more or less important. The importance is different according to the individual.

I hope you really don't agree with this. Otherwise, after you
have your first child, you have to kill yourself! No joking,
your life is and will be much more than reproducing. What
about the special talents that you bring to the world and those
around you? What about the special insights you have to
a complex problem that maybe nobody else sees. What
about when you invent the answer to something man has
toiled for years to find out. No, your life here is not just
by chance. Go ahead and reproduce yourself, but after that
have a wonderful and productive life!

Reproduction if not the main purpose is definitely way at the top of the list of purposes. Consider that our entire physical being is built around mating.

Technically, at the base level of existence, yes it is. However we have evolved to a stage of intellect where we can have other personal purposes in life. We have free choice and a brain that can act on that so our purpose can be whatever we choose

This is an oversimplification. Part of life involves the need to continue the species, hence reproduction.

The "purpose" of life is much more than that. Learning, teaching, evolving just to name a few.

in a species, instinctively, of course
but that simplistic answer relegates humans to mere biological "urges" and ignores the intellect...

you could just as easily said....the main purposes of life are to mate with as many partners as possible and kill the competition ....and the rest are just details....

the sentient part that you are disregarding is what distinguishes humans from the "animals"

of course i disagree.
if that were the case then why would we be having all this paraphernalia : comfort, technology, PLEASURE and etc.

why would we waste time and money on the "rest" if "its just details"
and our main purpose is to survive as a specie. animals live that way.
