The logic behind auction sites is to tap into the human nature of wanting to feel like we got a great deal on something. It's the next best thing to an everyday sale at our favorite shop. You find an item you want to bid on, and if you are signed up with that auction site, then you place your bid. After the bidding period is completed, if you win the bid then you pay. There are several methods for paying, depending on what the seller accepts. Make sure to read the details before bidding. If paying by credit card, take Ebay for instance. Most use a service that processes the credit card, like PayPal or BidPay, etc. Shipping is usually listed by the seller, and it normally tells you what the cost will be.

Check it out, browse the auction sites, and see what you can gleam from the experience.

This really depends on how the auction site has been designed. Typically for credit card processing you subscribe to a service with a bank and then manage transactions over a secure internet connection between your customer and yourself and then yourself and the bank.
