I had my Apple Powerbook G4 15 in 1.5Ghz sent in. They tightend the screen hinges, but they took out the 3rd party ram i had installed. They did the bla bla about how it could burn out the logic board. The ram was working great the previous 6 or so months. I have not yet re installed the ram.

Well most vendors will not support 3rd party RAM unless they install it. You could call Apple and ask them who manufacturers their Apple RAM. Most likely it's a 3rd party vendor. LOL.

I would ask them for a technical answer as to why it would burn up the logic board. Just be friendly when you ask. Now I did find this:

Also consider, from a business standpoint that in order for them to warranty the work they can only do so with equipment they are sure is functional. In every account the RAM is probably good. Most vendors set a similar policy. But generally computer manufacturers do not make there own parts, they only assemble and resell.
