The blue light around my game disc slot turns on only when I turn the power button on. It flashes once. It never stays on permanently. It only flashes here and there. Is it a defect?

The light only lights up, if you get a new message from other Wii users on your Pinboard.

This is normal behaviour. Your Wii is not broken. Get some friends with a Wii, exchange their Code numbers and send messages. This way you will get a blue light...

Don't worry, your Wii is prefectly fine. Despite the fact that most if not all of Nintendo's pictures of the Wii have the blue light on, it only lights up at certain times. Infact, it only lights up if you get a message on your message board. Kind-of a raw deal, eh? :/

Does it power up and let you play games?

Might want to check the battery in the wii remote

It's normal. The blue light doesn't stay on when you're playing a game.

If your games are working fine, then your Wii is fine.
