I went to my ob today, and she said that my baby had "dropped". She said for me to keep an eye out for contractions and call if I started feeling weird. She said if my baby were born now, she would be healthy, so she wasnt worried. Does this mean that my baby will be born soon? How long after your babies dropped did you actually go into labor? Or isnt this really a labor sign at all?

like everything else, the only thing for sure in pregnancy is that eventually it'll end.

You could go into labor tonite, you could it two weeks. With my mother-in-law's youngest child, the baby hadn't dropped even right up until labor began.

Do what you can to relax (I know, yeah right). Your baby will be here soon, and relaxation will be a thing of the past.

Good luck and congratulations

When I had my son, he "dropped" several weeks before he was born. He was my first, and the Dr. told me the same thing - to be on the lookout for signs of labor. Well, he was a week late! He dropped in mid January and wasn't born until February 23! I'll tell you, that was not the happiest few weeks of my life.

It may not be a sign that labor is going to start "any minute now," but it is surely a sign that everything looks good for the home stretch! take this as an opportunity to relax and put your feet up!! It's the last chance you'll get for a while, let me tell you!!!!

Congratulations and good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With my first pregnancy, the baby "dropped" about 3 wks before she was born. With my second pregnancy, the baby never did drop...he was 4 wks early!

I don't think it is a tru sign of labor nearing, just that the baby is preparing to be born, it could still be a little while yet!

Why do you're saying -2 station ability the newborn has dropped? were you larger at a previous checkup or did your healthcare specialist say you had dropped? i'm merely wondering because you probably did not aspect out those issues. i imagine you would have it backwards. i imagine consisting of your first the newborn drops once you're starting up into exertions. And with each and every of the children afterwards the newborn drops a pair weeks earlier.

Since it's your first time, it could still be several weeks before you go into labor naturally but it's a good sign that your body is taking action and preparing on it's own. Good luck :-)

Yes, most likely your baby is getting in the possession so you might start feeling some contractions before you know it.

It means the child is moving down into the birthing canal and getting ready to position itself for birth.

You scared me. I thought you had actually dropped your baby on its head or something.
