I work in a hospital in the IS department. We have wireless throughout the hospital. I also know that the room is "Shielded" and that we have portable Wireless laptops.

I have never heard of such an impact. I will talk to a MRI Tech and to our DBA who manages the wireless network. IF they say it does impact I will update this answer!...

Is it really a wireless connection? I mean, seriously, do you know how much cable it takes to install a wireless access point? I don't know why they call it wireless when it's really not.

No, but the MRI system would impair wireless connections intermittently.

No they don't but people just don't like them being around some of the electronics. Like they say turn your phone off when you're pumping gas because it could make a spark. HOGWASH!!!
