I just weaned my 11 1/2 month old baby off of baby formula bottles. She has done pretty well with no problems at all.... She has started drinking cow's milk and also drinks water. She does not like any kind of juice, even mixed with water. How can I get her to drink juices?

Why? Juice is nothing but empty calories. Breast milk, water, and formula have so much more to offer.

My middle daughter was the same way--and to this day she doesn't like juice still, she is a strictly milk and water kind of girl. Once in a while she'll have some lemonade but that is a rarity! I don't think that there is any need for your child to drink juice, there is not that much nutritional value that they get from juice that they can not get else where (fruit).

Juice will also fill your babies tummy so just keep up the milk and water, there is nothing wrong with not liking juice!

Hope this is helpful :-)

It's not essential that your baby drink juice, in fact, more moms have an issue getting their child to drink water which is better for your child anyway. How it works the other way around is mom's take diluted juice (half water) and over time continue to dilute the juice until it is completely water. Try it in the reverse if you like.

Don't worry about it, any doctor will tell you staying away from juice is not a bad thing. It really is not as healthy as you would think. Straight fruit would be much better natural sugar rather then the fake kind. Its bad for the teeth and its not very nutritious, be happy they don't like it. If they are drinking milk and water your all good, be grateful. Good Luck!

Don't!! Juice offers lots of simple sugars without the goodness of the fibre of vegetables and fruit. Drinking fruit juice contributes to childhood obesity and dental caries. Also her little tummy is very small so the room that fruit juice is taking up replaces some of the more nutritious food she should be consuming. She really doesn't need fruit juice.

If she doesn't like juice do a work around. She drinks water...great. Give her the fruit, either mashed or in her cereal. It doesn't have to go in the gut as juice...water and fruit=juice. My son hated cooked vegetables but would have gladly grazed the garden...he loved them all raw (blanched). There is always more than one way to skin the cat.
By the way...you can't "make" anyone, even a baby, do what they do not want to do.

She is better off without the wasted calories of juice. Just causes unhealthy weight gain and tooth decay. Continue encouraging the cows milk and water. Keep up the good work!

That is fine.. Most juice is sugar anyway. If the baby loves water, that is really really awesome.... if you really want it to start drinking juice, start by putting a teaspoon in a bottle of water and slowly increase

Oh. I was gonna say water it down. But... you could do like a drop of natural fruit juice (no added sugars, etc.), and work your way up instead of starting with a 50:50 ratio of juice to water. Also, maybe she would like eating fruit better than drinking it. Give her big apple slices to gum on, or grapes.

My son never drank juice, not even much now and he is 8. Why do you think she needs juice? She is better off eating fruit. There are fruit baby food purees or she can eat canned or frozen fruits cut up into tiny pieces or mashed with a fork.
