Make kids clean plates

Parents should put some of everything on a childs plate and the child should remain at the table until that plate is clean. Waste not want not. Parents who don't offer their kids foods the parents "don't like" should be charged with child abuse. We harp about fat people but we eat like picky pigs. It is time that changes, even if Hillery Clin-TOON has to pass a law with the help of That Pelosi "Nancy" biotch.

My grandmother made me clean my plate, then she would always put more food on my plate and make me clean it again. I think that's part of the reason I have weight problems, because I would eat until the food was gone, not until I wasn't hungry anymore.

When I was a kid, we had to finish every bit of food on our plate, otherwise we wouldn't get dessert.
I don't have children, but I don't think it's a good idea to force a child to finish every morsel on their plate, or promise them dessert as a token. That can lead eventually to obesity in children.
It's what's on your plate that's important...fruits, and vegetables, and some carbohydrates is good. A well balanced diet is always a good start.

Sometimes my mom would say I couldn't leave the table until I cleaned my plate. She said it at dinner one Friday but let me go to school on Monday anyway.

ps I'm 53 so I guess this has been going on a while.

My parents did not make me clean my plate and I do not make my children clean their plates.

My uncle made my cousins clean their plates and they now have eating disorders. One is very fat!

I did not do it to my kids
My parents did not do it to me - but I did have to try everything they put on my plate. I still don't like some of the things I had to try.

I always cleaned my plate. And then I'd clean the second, and the third. But one time I sat at the dinner table until bedtime staring at a helping of okra.
WHY WOULD ANYONE MAKE A CHILD EAT OKRA BY ITSELF?? In gumbo maybe, but as a veggie alone???

i was not forced to clean my plate, there were no 'starving children in africa' quilt trips. i have two teenagers and an almost three year old at my house. although i don't make them clean their plates, i do encourage them to have some bites of everything on it. veggies included!
