Yes, there were warnings in "Mein Kampf", and in January 1939 Hitler said in a public speech: "If international finance Jewry in and outside Europe should succeed in once again plunging the nations into a world war, then the result will not be the victory of Jewry, but rather the annihilation of the Jewish race in Europe!" Yes, probably many people didn't take that serious and thought that were only words. Of course no one could really know then that the Nazis would turn their threats into reality. Some of the German Jews didn't emigrate on time because they couldn't believe what was going to happen. Others couldn't emigrate because there was no country that accepted them.
The US could have saved many Jews from the Holocaust if they had fully opened their borders for Jewish refugees and if they had bombed the rails to the extermination camps or the gas chambers. When the Holocaust was already going on, they came to know about it. There were US bombers flying over Auschwitz in 1944.
However opening the borders would not have prevented the Holocaust because as I wrote above many of the German Jews didn't try to emigrate on time because they didn't understand the danger and the majority of Holocaust victims were not German Jews, but Jews in countries occupied by Germany, esp. Poland and the USSR. They didn't think of emigration of course because they didn't know they would get under German rule and then when Germany invaded these countries they were in the trap at once. At that time Nazis had already decided for genocide and did not allow them to emigrate.
The only way to prevent the Holocaust or to stop it earlier would have been to remove the Nazis from power much earlier. It would have helped of course if the US had entered the war earlier.

The killings and annihilation began in the late 30's with the eastern Europeans like the Slavs and Czechs. The Holocaust coalesced with the building of the concentration camps in the late 30's and during the war.
America was still in isolationism, and many facts were coming out of Europe about the pogroms being conducted. America was, I believe, was aware of what was going on. As far as having some of Hitler's all out plans for his final solution, I don't know.

After WW1 Germany became left in damage, the individuals were ravenous, homeless, and without an economic equipment.. The treaty of Versailles gave Germany the decrease hand in each and everything and Hitler blamed the Jews for this.. He became an eccentric guy, who became like a mild in a rustic shattered through defeat.. even if, no longer all Germans agreed with the Holocaust they were too afraid to communicate up; those who did were put in the same line with the Jews interior the camps and executed.. It became a time of worry for all and sundry in Germany..

I remember reading all kinds of reports about it, but I can't document the sources, which were books, newspaper and magazine articles, TV and radio reports, and holocaust survivors I've spoken to. There is no question that Roosevelt knew it was going on during WWII, but the decision was made not to divert military resources to stop it, but to end the war as soon as possible. Also, many Jews were denied entry into the United States prior to the war, even though the U.S. government knew about German persecution of Jews throughout Germany and it's annexed territories, including Austria and part of Czechoslovakia.

Read Mein Kampf. Hitler wrote it in prison and outlines his plans for world domination along with "the final solution" concerning the Jews.

They and England ignored a lot of warnings. Some Germans from inside the Reich asked for help and like the Bay of Pigs were left to their fate.

I don't think the USA had information about it before it was going to happen. As for the question about preventing it, I think any answer I may give would be complicated.

Samantha has a great answer, no one knew before WWII what was happening. There were rumors, but it wasn't until concentration camps were discovered that the US realized the extent of what hitler had done.
