you place the shortcut to the program you want to start in the startup folder on your start menu\all programs\startup folder

Have you tried copying the application's shortcut (i.e. the icon on the Desktop or in the Start Menu) to the Startup folder?

(Start > Programs > Startup)

If you want to add multiple items, it's easiest to right click on the Startup menu and click "Open" or "Explore" -- then you can copy items into the folder directly through Windows Explorer.

If you don't have a shortcut yet, it's very easy to create one. Right-click your desktop, choose New > Shortcut, browse to your program file, click Next, name the shortcut, click OK and you're done. Then follow the steps I mentioned above.

If you've already tried these, and it's just not working for some reason, that would be helpful information to get your question answered.

If you mean you want a program to start each time Windows starts, you need to copy the shortcut into your Startup group on the Start menu. (Start > Programs > Startup)

just copy the program exe file and paste a shortcut copy at your startup folder. this will start that program when windows start.

To do this....

1) Copy the required program (exe file)
2) open the startup folder ( right click start menu->open->programs->startup
3) right click your mouse and select past shortcut

thats it...

I use the program "Chameleon Startup Manager" for it.
You can find it here:
http://www.neosoft-tools.com/windows-startup-manager.htm
It disables any startup programs and fully controls startup by selecting the programs to be launched, while customizing the startup settings (ie how often and when programs should be launched, etc).

Open your registry by going to Start >> Run >> regedit

Navigate under My Computer to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\
Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\Run

Right click anywhere in the right window pane and select New String Value.

Set anything as the name, and for the Data set the path of the executable.

This will boot everytime with the computer.
