says it runs off of infared heat, does this work well? says it has a fan, is the fan loud? i gound it at www.portablefurnace.com ...........if you know anything about these, please let me know!! thanks!!

Ok, I don't know this product, but it claims to be 30% more efficient and has 1500 watts, just like a resistive heater (aka your $29 space heater from WalMart). That would give it 1950 watts of heat output, which is .. well, a third more then a $29 space heater, but nothing close to a real furnace. Nothing amazing, but kinda interesting. Due to its design, I would expect it to be quiet, they claim 'low CFM fan' (that means slow spinning) on the site.
Edit: Wow that thing is $600 bucks? That seems.. I would not spend that much money on that and get two nice looking, conventional space heaters instead. And a Wii. And would still have money left!

an infared furnace pretty much consumes all the carbon monoxide and puts out a lot of heat for the amount of surface area, which can be of many sizes. Infared furnaces usually don't have fans they work off convection
