Hey girl, I'm 22 and still struggling to find my big break. In college, I majored in communications b/c I didn't find it necessary to major in theater/drama. The best thing I did was try out at local playhouses on my spare time. Just rehearse, rehearse, rehearse. I wouldn't spend time looking for an agent at this point unless you can really afford it. I probably won't hit the bigtime but I have had great times acting on stage and alittle bit of local screentime. Good luck!!!

My brother was acting throughout his high school life and now goes to marymount mannhattan college and continued on an acting major but also had a back up plan too he minored in phychology. My advice is that you do not need an agent, my brother got a big part in a real off broadway production his first year in college without an agent and he is probably the most irresponsible person I know! He just showes up for the audition and forgot about it for a while until he got called back and they said he got a part. An agent for a young person in high school and the first few years of college is definately uneccisary. But remember you always need a back up plan minor or douple major in something else... usually phych or directing suites well with aspiring actors.

Keep researching agents. You might be too young for one at the moment (depending on how far ur able to take it now - will your parents homeschool you if you get something local but time consuming??) but there is an agency in my area that basically just notifies you abt castings - u can decide to go or not. They get paid when you go tho. That's my understanding... I still need camera classes before I can audition with them again, since they dont do theatre.

Also, even if you dont major in theatre (I couldnt since theres no theatre major at my school), its a GREAT idea to at least minor. I've been involved in every show, all 4 years of college - GREAT experience.

But really, you dont need an agent just yet. There's got to be community theatre that you can audition for (in HS and college) to build experience, a resume, and to have fun!!

AND... dont get involved in any scams, like I did with "Wilhelmina". Ugh. Live and learn, I guess.

Good luck!!

you should probably get an agent to find you minor roles on a commercial...then...someone will find you attractive and maybe hire you as a actress...
