the parabola y=x*2 . Given the form y=a(x-p)*2+q. State what's
a p and q.

d) Translate the parabola 2 units right

how come the answer is 2 for p isn't it -2 because it's going right???

Many students are confused by this at first -- the answer is that the standard form of the equation uses a minus sign instead of a plus sign: x-p is the standard form, therefore if you substitute in -2 for p, you get x - (-2) = x + 2 and hence the rightward movement.
