I'm really happy with my life. I think the secret for me was to look back to my childhood and previous experiences and understand how those things affect me today so that I could resolve any issues that I may have had. Then, I could better understand myself as a person and gain clarity on what I want from life and from myself. The whole self-appraisal process helps you to clear out a lot of stress in your life, and also people who are negative.

I refocused my life to pursue those things which make me really happy, and spend more time with fewer people. I don't put timeframes on my life (like, I need to be earning 500K by 30 etc). I do things spontaneously, even if I am getting a bit old for it (like climbing trees, skinny dipping and going on last minute vacations) and I get so much pleasure out of small things.

My advice for the easiest path to happiness is to first understand yourself and then you can understand how to attain happiness for yourself.

If you're just depressed I don't know what to do to help you. I'm happy because I see life as a wonderful gift to be cherished and enjoyed. I look forward to every day and when it ends I will be thankful for every moment I had.

You'll know what to do with your life when you find something you love doing. Unfortunately, depression can obscure what you love doing from even yourself. 20% of the US is currently clinically depressed. Chances are good that there are many others out there also not happy with their lives.

Go and be happy. Find something that you like to do, and that is useful to somebody else (so that you get paid). Or at least find some job that you do not hate, and do what you like in free time.
