Sorry I know i already asked a similar question earlier but I'm trying to get more input on this matter!!
My OB checked me this morning and I was 3 cm dilated and 90% effaced. After he removed his hand, his glove was covered in red blood and I had lots dripping out of me. He said its probably from the cervix, as its very sensitive and has lots of blood vessels, and that I could expect to be bleeding for a few hours. Anyway tonight I passed what looked like a really big blood clot. I called and spoke with his nurse, she didn't seem overly concerned about the clot and said if I continue to bleed excessively I should go to the hospital and get checked out. Well my bleeding has diminished since then, but I'm still worried about that clot I passed (It was like 2 inches long and an inch wide.) Could that of been the mucous plug maybe?

You did the right thing by asking his nurse. I would not be too concerned. Keep an eye on things. I'm sure you are fine.
I don't think that was your mucous plug. Good luck!

Honestly, the mucous plug is no big deal... The big question is Are you ACTIVELY bleeding?? Brown/dark spots of blood are just left over from the exam earlier today. Your doctor is right about how many blood vessels your cervix has. That exam today could've gotten things "stirred up" and the bleeding is just from the changes/dilation in your cervix.

If you feel that the bleeing is more than just spotting, it never hurts to be safe and get checked out at the hospital. Be sure and let you doctor know that you're going in, though. It's important that they know what's going on with you.

It could well be - I posted loads of q's asking the same when I lost some around the same time, however I continued to lose it steadily until 41 weeks then had a more blood tinged 'show' shortly before my waters broke. I know you want this to be it and I hope it is - so frustrating waiting isn't it! I hated the last weeks. Good luck! Exciting times x

No, it can't look like a blood clot. Your mucous plug is just that, mucous (like SNOT).

What your doctor said is accurate, the cervix is sensitive, and he probably just disrupted something.

Not to be gross but my mucus plug looked like a big bloody booger, but if you said there was bleeding from your internal it mat have just been left over from that. It's good that your bleeding has stopped, I lost my mucus plug with my second child at 9 months and I had him at 41.5weeks.
