I had four semesters of German in college and taught myself Esperanto. It gave me a new perspective on English. I think it is beneficial even if you have no need for it.

You'll be able to find a new way to interact and comunicate with someone else...Such as for emergencies and none of the other doctors don't know what the patient is saying, but it's Spanish. If you the language, then you'll be able to understand them and they'll understand you...Comprende??? (understand)

no offence, but lets say you don't make it in work in a certain country, you can land yourself somewhere else. for example, Japan or Germany.
ive had some friends who work there. some of them are really strict about speaking in their language. if you don't talk to them in their language, they will look down on you.
but i think both countries, you can make big money, as an expat or local :)

Learning anything new, is good for the memory. Plus it can be an asset with employment.

if you live in america its not important really! If they can't understand you, they don't want to talk to you in the first place otherwise they'd learn english if it were that important to them.

Because if you hear someone "speaking in tongues" (like the Pentecostals do) you can tell them they are full of crap in 2 languages.
