The cuffs of my pants/jeans are often too tight to fit over my shoes. To remedy this, I cut about an inch+ up on both sides of the pant leg. This works well for awhile, but evenutally the inch+ cut turns into a 10" tear. How can I continue this pant cutting craziness without high rippage potential.

Wear shorts. That way the cuffs don't touch the ground. But if you you still don't wanna do it that way, Buy Jeans that don't have such a narrow cuff. Another way to do this is to sew new Seams along where you cut it, By folding the material over, and sewing this together. If you do this all around, and sew the top of the cut, it won't continue to Tear.

After cutting, sew up the edge since the stitch is broken.
