Oh, honey, it's so cute. You want to be unique just like everybody else! Seriously though, I guess I would be considered "goth" by some folks....if I bought into labels. You're worth more than some name or catagory some other person made up.
Now, here's some honest style advice that works for any type of fashion. First, take an honest look at your body. Try on lots of different fabrics and cuts of clothing. If you're a larger person, don't hide yourself in tents, but keep the material just a bit loose,so that is closely skims the body instead of clinging to it. If you're small-chested, invest in a Wonderbra or just flaunt your girls even if they're small! Jeans and a cute top, even if they're black, are always a safe options.
More specifically for "goths", try not to look like you're wearing a costume. All-black is just bad fashion. Red, hot pink, blue, purple...anything, just please, break the monotony! Black lipstick does not look good anytime other than halloween. Your eyeliner should never leave the general "eye" area.
Lastly, don't be afraid to pull from "other" styles...hippie, raver, emo.
Hope this helps you find a style that express who YOU are rather than how much cash you drop at Hot Topic.

This may not help, but the first thing I'd like to tell you is that this will be okay. Parents have been flipping out over youngsters' clothing and social movements forever. During the fifties, there were beatniks. Then there were hippies, disco queens, punks, and so forth. Ah, the outrage and immorality. How dare those kids have that long/short hair and wear bras/not wear bras!
So. What's in your parents' pasts? Are there any dweeby photos of them in tiedyed T-shirts or platform shoes? Maybe one thing to do is to have a discussion about fashions and how the goth look is just what's popular now.
Of course, it may not just be about your wearing black fingernail polish. They may have some legitimate concerns about what comes with being a goth. They may not be down with the whole death/dark outlook thing, and they may be worried about you. So if that's the thing, having some frank and open talks with them would be a good idea. Try to find out what their concerns are and try to understand them.
And you know, if all else fails - there's always college!

Goth is a mindset, not a style. Gothic is living in the macabre, the morbid, the darker sides of life. Realizing that life isn't about sunshine and daisies, it's dark and disgusting. You can dress "Goth" and still be a prep. We call those wanna-be's. No one allows you to be goth, you just become one. Either you realize that life isn't always bright and sunny, or you begin to enjoy the darker, morbid parts of life. So it's not something you can just "Mommy, may I please be a goth?" You either are, or you aren't. Simple as that. If you really want a good look into the Gothic life style, check out http://www.vampirefreaks.com.

Goth is a seen aesthetic, one in all those music and one in all those costume. to that end, being goth shouldn't impact your capacity to be a solid christian, a solid student, or a solid youngster. as quickly as your dad and mom are certain that your opt to positioned on black does not advise which you will drop out of faculty and start up up doing drugs all day, they would be wonderful. till you actual DO intend to drop out of faculty and do drugs all day...
