Given the present economy and cost of living - this whole minimum wage debacle is ridiculous - just plain politics as usual!

If a business can't afford to pay its help a minimum, livable wage - then get the hell out of business or do it yourself.

We already exempt many of the lowest paid workers in this country because of effective lobbying - why don't we just reinstate slavery and get on with it.

In the House, Democrats threatened to stifle that effort by enforcing constitutional precedents that require all tax bills to originate in the House. Senate Democrats, however, cautioned their House colleagues not to jeopardize legislation they'd promised to approve if they gained control of Congress.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev , is backing an $8.3 billion tax package that would extend for five years a tax credit for employers who hire low-income or disadvantaged workers. It also extends until 2010 tax rules that permit businesses to combine as much as $112,000 in expenses into one annual tax deduction.

"Democrats are committed to helping small businesses, but we should not delay a minimum wage increase another day in order to negotiate a tax package," said Brendan Daly, a spokesman for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

You thought they would show it any other way? Everyone knew it would get hung up in the Senate unless there were tax breaks for small business!

EDIT: BUT IT'S WHAT HAPPENED... YOUR THE ONE EDITORIALIZING IT... THAT'S YOUR OPINION...

I swear... conservatives couldn't tell an opinion from a fact at gunpoint anymore...

if the headline doesn't say "liberals are stupid" they think it's bias...
