O.K. FIRST OFF WE ARE NOT LIVING IN THE 1950'S WHERE THE WORD SEX WAS PRATICALLY FORBIDDEN AMONGST TEENS. WE ARE LIVING IN A TIME WHERE MORE AND MORE TEENS ARE GETTING PREGNANT EVERYDAY AND INFLUENCING OTHERS ALONG THE WAY. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT ANY PREGNANCY IN THIS DAY AND AGE WAS BY ACCIDENT....THESE KIDS KNOW ABOUT PROTECTION AND IT'S BENEFITS. A LOT OF TEENS ACT IMPULSIVELY. THEY KNOW THAT IF THEY DON'T PUT ON A POT HOLDER TO TOUCH A HOT POT THE'LL GET BURNED RIGHT? WELL THEY KNOW THAT IF THEY DON'T USE PROTECTION THERE IS A VERY GOOD CHANCE THE'LL MAKE A BABY.(these are not your average teens in today's society THEY ARE NOT STUPID!! JUST CARELESS... I THINK THAT YOUNG LADIES FOR THE MOSTPART LOVE THE IDEA OF HAVING A BABY AND DRESSING IT IN CUTE LITTLE OUTFITS AND PUTTING PIG TAILS IN THEIR DAUGHTERS HAIR AND GETTING ATTENTION!!! BUT ONCE THE REALIZATION THAT THIS CHILD ISNT A DOLL SETS IN THAT TEMPORARY VERY SHORT LIVED FANTASY, BECOMES A NIGHTMARE, ONCE THEY CAN'T FIND A BABYSITTER SO THEY CAN HANG OUT OR HAVE TO DIVI UP THIER WEEKLY PAYCHECKS WITH THEIR CHILD IT'S A PROBLEM...DON'T GET ME WRONG SOME DO FACE UP TO THE CHALLENGE AND LOVE THEIR CHILDREN WHOLEHEARTEDLY AND MAKE A GREAT EFFORT(nevertheless their still not ready).... A LOT OF THEM KNOW THAT THEIR PARENTS PARTICULARLY THE MOTHER OF THE GIRL WILL TAKE CARE OF THE BABY. THAT'S WHY SO MANY(not all) YOUNG BOYS DON'T MIND THE WHOLE NO PROTECTION PLAN THEY KNOW THAT THEY HAVE LITTLE TO NO REAL RESPONSIBILITIES (maybe a little sitting here and there and a few dollars once in a while)...CHANCES ARE THEY DONT LIVE IN THE SAME HOUSEHOLD, MOST TIMES A MOTHER WILL NOT SEE HER CHILD AND GRANDCHILD SUFFER AND WILL FIND HERSELF RAISING TWO BABIES, AND IN SOME CASES THREE, ONCE THE FATHER OF THE CHILD MOVES IN. A LOT OF IT IS DUE TO LACK OF PARENTAL SUPERVISION AND BONDING. MY SON IS 12 AND I WERE STILL BONDING. THERE SHOULD BE MORE TEENS AND PARENTS AT THE FAMILY TABLE.

I had my first child at 16 and this is what I feel happened to me.I had no bounderies as a child nor teenager my parents let me get away with everything I dropped out of school basically in middle school because I was homeschooled from 6th grade no one talked to me about birth control, sex, boys or any of that I had to find out on my own. I thought I was grown at 14 I did whatever I wanted no one taught me otherwise I regret having a child so young because I lost out on all the things a kid is suppose to experience. Don't get me wrong I love my daughter I wouldn't trade her for the world but I have learned from my mistakesand I won't let the same thing happen to my children and if I had it to do over I would have waited finished school and let myself have a childhood I am now 25 with an 8 yr old daughter a 5 year old and one more on the way.

I know my pregnancy was an accident ( the best accident to ever happen to me ) but as for the ones who intentionally plan on getting pregnant by tricking their boyfriends or whatever it may be, I am not sure why some of them do it. I think maybe they feel if they got pregnant with their boyfriends baby that it will keep them around, but as some of them find out that doesn't always happen. I think that if the parents better educate their children and pay more attention to what their kids are doing and not be shy about talking to them about sex and the risk's and what not that are associated with having sex that a bunch of them wouldn't be how they are.

okay first you are coming for a STEREOTYPE dont even get me started on stereotypeing people! a lot of teens get pregnant because they want to feel loved, well at least think they'll feel loved they dont realize the consquesnces and the negatives to having a baby, some think they're ready and others don't even exoect it! there are many reasons as to why young people have children but quit dissing on teens and pregnancy, whats done is done and you cant change it... if you wanna vent get a live journal or something but just because they got "knocked up" doesnt mean they're stupid they do have feelings too and a lot of teens are doing a good job as long as they get the help and support they need to successfully raise a child!!!!

Who knows? Maybe they have nothing else better to do or they think getting pregnant by some boy will make him stay with them forever just because they had a kid together. No matter if you have one kid or 10 kids if that man does not want to be with you he won't. I think alot of people do not have common sense about sex and pregnancy.
How hard is it to go to a doctor and get put on birth control?
How hard is it to go into a bathroom at a gas station and buy a 75 cent condom?

No they do not know what they are missing out on. You can have kids way up into your 40's so why be in a hurry?
(I would not change having my son when i did at age 21 (planned pregnancy) but i think i could have waited longer)

I think if they just used common sense when it comes to sex then most wouldn't get pregnant. Then again i guess they think they look so cute at age 15 with their bellys poking out. I think it is a shame to see a young girl with her whole life ahead of her pregnant.

I think there is just a culture of young sex happening,stupid ideas of what love is,but at least they are making the best of a bad situation if they think it's cool having the baby.....it all boils down to having someone to love....whether it be the father or the baby.....a lack of love problem maybe or an over indulgence.

In a nutshell: Tunnel-vision.

Kids aren't born with all the knowledge of the world...it's up to the parents and social influences to provide as much knowledge as possible in the short time we have before they start attempting to make adult-level decisions for themselves.

Humans are flawed ceratures...we make mistakes, and it's normal to make some bad choices based on our own ignorances...regardless of the age.

Some of these high schools around here have nurserys about 2 classrooms big to accomidate all the babies of the students. A lot of these kids think its cool to have a baby while your still in high school.

Because they don't think of the baby daddy's or consequences. All they see is how cute they'll look with a round belly or how cute they'll dress they baby. Or what kind of exotic name they can make up. They need more up close and personal education.

I actually think that many teens think it will be fun to have a baby until they get pregnant, even here you see so many teens 14, 15 , 16etc saying they want a baby. I just dont understand
