I know that infants have different types of poops. I don't know if I should be concerned about this. I did a yahoo search but came up empty.
My daughters poops are often different. One day, they'll be like mustard, the next day, they will be a thick green. Tonight, after her bottle, she had a poop and I changed her. It was yellow and watery and it had mucus (darker greenish colour) in it. There wasn't very much, but enough that I am concerned.
I wasn't playing with it, but I took the diaper and touched it to see the consistancy and it stretched. It sort of looked like and was the consistancy of a females discharge when she is ovulating.
Any ideas? Serious answers only please :)
Thanks!

Green poo is normal and as far i know no one really knows why it happens. it comes and goes, i wouldn't worry if baby is happy and healthy and drinking and has wet nappies.
Breast fed babies have much runnier stools than bottle fed babies, and the colour depends on what the mother has eaten. Once feeding is established the colour will settle down.
Green poo comes and goes and there has never been any documented evidence of present or future problems from it. If you baby is continuing to gain weight, don't worry to much.
If stools are really runny talk to your GP to rule out infection.. Any trace of blood should be seen
Hope this helped settled your mind

It sounds normal. The digestive tract is not yet fully developed and can act differently from time to time. The watery diaper might be diarrhea. Keep a close eye on the baby to make sure that she does not dehydrate if it is diarrhea. The change in consistency could also be that you are giving too much water to your little one at 3 month they don’t need water, formula or milk is enough. Also water can cause diarrhea. in little ones. If you are concerned call you doctor he is the only one that will one able to tell you for sure whether or not it’s normal. Don’t be afraid of calling too much you pay him for that.
My little one has had mucus and watery poop for a month, she is three month today, it has been tested for almost everything and nothing showed up. Sometimes babies on breast milk can have poop that is different in consistency or color because you are eating different things every day.

Natalia D is right. It depends on what you are eating. I have four children and breastfed them all - then weaned them onto formula. You mentioned she had a bottle so she is obviously on formula. My babies poop was that yucky mustardy yellow at first, changing to ugly greeny colour as they got older, then more brown, normal poop colour when they went onto solid foods. With my two little girls sometimes they had that mucus sticky stuff when they were still very little (3 months and under). It could be the hormones from you still going through her body. I found it most often when my girls had been crying and sniffing and they swallow the goop (can't blow their noses as a bubby) and then pooped it out. That's all. If you are worried call your doctor.

my baby was also breastfed. He pooped ALOT at first and than started going every 2 or 3 days. He seemed ok though and is now 11 months old and his bowels are fine.

Speaking as a daycare worker in an infant room, it all sounds very normal. The mucous could just be caused from a cold. The real time to be concerned is when they are extremely loose, very frequent, or look like they have blood in them. I change so many diapers each week and believe me, it's very natural.

She's breastfed still right? Formula fed babies stool should be thicker by now, not runny with mucus at all so i'm assuming. Actually no sites i can find state that mucus is normal at all, they all say to take the little one to the doctor and have her looked at.

I'm a first time mom, so i don't know much about poop except for my son's! Honeslty if it were me i'd give a call to my doctor's office. It may be normal and nothing to worry about, but if you're really concerned i wouldn't think twice about calling.

My daughter is 4 months old and yes its normal, well at least it was what I went through with my daughter, her poohs were alwasy different, but green was a famous colour of her pooh. I wouldn't be concerned unless you see blood.
