Try the classified ads in your local paper. You could also try craigslist.org or ebay and you might be able to find an older, used model for that price.

You are likely looking for an older laptop, one like a Pentium 2 or Pentium 3 at best, for the price range you've quoted.
The best place to look is in your local Craigslist, go to www.craigslist.org. Then select your city, and look under "computers & tech".
You can also try sites like slickdeals.net and spoofee.com, though these are new deals and likely around the $400-$500.
