He may see something in you that makes him think you'll develop into a better QB than the other two. It could also be that they're the fastest runners and tailback is a good fit for them.

Unless there is a reason other than talent (such as your dad is good friends with the coach), then anyone that's jealous of you can just learn to accept it. It's not your problem, it's theirs.

If what you write about not being college material is true, then it's even more of a reason to enjoy and savor these next few years because it maybe the only chance you will have to experience the intensity, thrill, camaraderie and competition of team sports. Spend that time becoming the best player you can be rather than worrying about what others think of you. Who knows, you maybe college material before long.

If you are going to win the job as backup, don't apologize for it. I am sure you earned it. Also, keep working hard and don't let it go to your head. The job can be taken away as fast as it was given to you so never take it for granted.

Above all be a great teammate by treating the other players with respect and lead by example both on and off the field.

Best of luck.

of course some people may hate you same may be impressed, but the important thing is you got the position through hard work and no one can say that that is a bad thing. and also, they should trust your coach because coaches, teachers, commandants, etc. won't be in that position if they don't have a good eye for potentials. trust me, i know... our commandant in CAT is also like that. often he makes decisions that we don't understand, but at the end of the day, we find out that he has good reasons for his decision, he has seen all sides before we ever got there, he based it from experience and he thinks of our welfare more than we thought of it ourselves

depends. In highschool, peoples playing abilities drastically change based on how hard they work out in the offseason. you could end up full ride college material, or you could warm the bench for four years. totally depends on your skill.

and if youre a good player, and legitly get the job, nobody will hate you for it.

It sounds to me like the coach thinks you are a better prospect. If you get the position through honest competition, no one can blame you. Yes, the other boys may be upset, but they will get over it.
