I've been driving fine but recently my stick shift has had a hard time going into the slot it should---kind of like when you try to shift down into first and it doesn't work without declutching.. but now it is happening with all the gears, and I have to ram it in there just to go, and I have to press the clutch down the last millimeter into the floor, and sometimes that still won't work.
Sometimes I let out the clutch really fast and let it pop back up (is that what "popping the clutch" is?) and that helps, but I was wondering if there was anything else I could do before taking it to the mechanic next week?

Also they topped off my transmission fluid a few months ago (and didn't mention leaks or anything)

sounds like a synchomech is dying, or your clutch isnt fully disengaging for some reason. both are pretty big issues.

I have the same problem, but when I am in a complete stop and I start to take of, something starts screeching and then when I go from first to second gear it gets stuck and doesn't want to go into the next gear for a about a second. It also does it on second gear. The screeching sound just came up recently as well. Any idea wha my it can be?

I had a similar problem, and it ended up being a leak of breakfluid, which was letting air in.

I had to have the master and slave cylinders replaced costing about $500.

But get it looked as asap, try not to drive it till you can get it there, you might need a new clutch, and they arent cheap..

Could be your clutch but try lifting your plastic gear gaitor and see if is anything stuck in the selecter fork if not sounds like gearbox internal problem

i own a repair shop, and it could be a part in the transmission doing this or one of the cylinders that work the clutch going bad on it,that's usually what it is when their doing what yours is the cylinders going bad on it,,their not to bad expensive to have done, they should have done those when they did the clutch in it ,but all shops don't replace things if they don't have to,but id say that's what it is ,good luck i hope this help,s.

The obvious answer is that the clutch is dragging but it's also possible that the transmission is low in gear oil.

Nope, It sounds like you need to have the clutch adjusted. Simple fix but can be enough to really piss you off.
