Ach, don't listen to them. The higher the level of taxonomy, the higher the level of diversity. And the lower the level of taxonomy, the lower the level of diversity.

For example, humans belong to the kingdom of Eukarya, which includes all eukaryotes including plants. Humans are also in the primate family. Primates share about 95-99% of their genes with humans, while plants share about 50% of their genes with humans.

I am pretty sure that the higher you go in the taxonomic levels, the lower the degree of diversity. Also, humans are decreasing biodiversity with landfills, etc.
