Children must go to pediatricians because pediatricians are doctors who specialize in children's health. No other specialist knows more about what a child needs than a pediatrician. Children's health issues are vastly different from those of grown adults, which is why there's even a speciality, such as pediatrics, in the first place. If children didn't need a specific type of doctor, there wouldn't be a whole medical field for it.

It's MANDATORY. No one needs to say it. It's common sense. This is the way the Healthcare System works whether you like it or not. Pediatricians are the only doctors who specialize in Children Healthcare, they went to school for it, they got a degree for it & they got a license for it. They know how to treat children when needed because they studied it. Children's bodies are NOT the same as adult bodies. Whether it be newborns, toddlers, small children & adolescents. Any child will see a Pediatrician from age 0-18 yrs. Once they turn 18 yrs old they can go ahead & see or choose an Adult Medicine doctor.

Children don't necessarily have to go to a pediatrician. A general practice (family practice) physician will suffice for a healthy child. However, the advantage to a pediatrician is that their day to day experience with children allow them to spot problems that a GP might miss. Additionally, all their equipment is child sized, whereas a GP might have to adjust their blood pressure cuffs, etc. Finally, a pediatrician has more experience in dealing with children and offering them a better experience at the doctor's office.

For one it is necessary to send a child from 3 months on for his vaccinations. Any general practioner is acceptable, but most don't keep up with all the childhood illness' and new techniques. If your child isn't immunized, he can not enter into school. At you can be taken to court. Why do you think we have fewer children dying these days than ever before?

hmmm well I don't think it is law...but I do think certain vaccines are.
However, even if you had a reasonable knowledge childrens health I would still say that when it comes to the health of your child it can't hurt to have someone elses opinion regaurding your childs health. In the end though you are the ultimate caretaker of your child...doctors are just there to help.

You can take them to a family practice doctor, if the doc is will to see them. There's no rule or law that says you must take you child under 18 yrs old to a pediatrician ... Just reasonable business practice for the docs. They treat what they know. :)

i recognize that maximum states require particular immunizations earlier a baby can bypass to public college, and meaning going to the healthcare specialist for properly-infant visits. as far as overlook is in touch, i do not imagine that's legally considered overlook except the youngster has an ailment that calls for common verify-ups. yet i'd be incorrect ~ that is really a question for a criminal specialist who's commonplace with the regulations on the challenge on your state.

mine never did. they have always gone to a general practitioner. i have never once regretted the choice and i have always had good luck with my doctor. in some ways it is even better because he is the doctor for the whole family so he know my kids family history. he also delivered my kids, so he even knows how they reacted to things before they were physically born. they are now 7 and almost 11 and have rarely ever been sick,,, he must be doing something right

tNo one says you have to take them to a pediatrician, you could take them to a vet. LOL

Seriously, if you have a child in the USA, as soon as he is born, the pediatrician sees him in the hospital, they are the doctors who specialize in children's health. Also a general praticioner Doctor can take care of children, but they mus be seen by a doctor, and get all their vaccines, because otherwise, they won't allow them in school.
