I'm doing a project for a marketing class I'm in. Does anyone know the technology behind those bug foggers you can buy? You know, like the Raid flea bombs? What exactly makes them work?

There are two common types of bug foggers. The simplest is the "bomb" type like Raid in a can. You depress the button and the aerosol floods the air with the insecticide. The vapor penetrate the living space - usually you have to leave drawers and doors open, depending on what pest you are targeting.

The other type are the propane type foggers. Thiss hand-held unit has a flame burner that heats a tube wrapped around it. As you pump the trigger insecticide (and typically kerosene) flow into the tube. The liquid is held back by a check valve. As it boils and vaporizes, it is forced out of the samll orifice in the front making a nice dense fog to flood your yard.
