~~ I have travelled extensively in the USA (by motorhome and hire cars) and love it so much.
~~ We Australians are raised on a diet of US films and get to know and recognise US landmarks easier than our own.
The first time we glimpsed the Statue of Liberty and Mount Rushmore, I cried. It felt like I had known these places all my life.
~~ I feel very at home and comfortable in the US (driving on the right-hand-side even seems natural and correct).
It's where I'm most at peace.
Depending on where you live in the US it is not all that much different to Australia.
I mean; we work, we have our leisure time and we raise our kids.
~~ That said; I'm an Aussie and proud to be one.
THIS IS THE VERY BEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD TO LIVE.
We have a better standard of living and better lifestyles.
(And easy access to Cadbury chocolates and we have Vegemite!)
~~ Having a great holiday and actually living in another country are quite different.
It would be a huge move, especially if you have no family and/or friends there.
~~ Still, if you have that dream then you should not ignore it.
You will always be sorry for not doing it.
You should at least try it out.
~~ And the great thing is; you can always come back.
You can still call Australia home.

Some of the laws in America are really stupid. It seems like they favor the guilty and punish the innocent. Armed robberies & murders are on the rise every day. Luckily, I live in a place that doesn't have much crime, but with all the illegal immigrants trying to come in it's just a matter of time. From what I hear, it seems that Australia would be an ideal place to live, as they have a very low crime rate. My daughter went to Australia & New Zealand in 1995 for 3 weeks and just loved it! She went with the People To People Student Ambassador Program when she was only 12. She really wants to go back some day, and I would love to go there as well. I have never been outside the US. But if you ever get a chance to visit another country, including the US, I would say do it. You will never know what it's like unless you see it for yourself.

I love America- I truly do not think I would want to live (long term) anywhere else. Many of our country's current problems are solely the result of our corrupt politicians and Bush (I can't even call him President). But I would love to visit Australia, I feel you and your country are most like the US and Americans. I wish I could get you in contact with my nephew who spent a semester at your beautiful Adelaide and my brother's family have now lived in Puckypul (sp????)for 6 months- you just can't compare Aussie and the US with a 2 week visit to a large city or amusement park area, etc. I am so hoping to get to your country before my brother has to return to the US.

Most people would enjoy to get away from the norm. Just look at the answers you're getting. America has it's benefits as well as flaws, just like any other country. Personally, I love it here. Yes, there are a lot of laws, healthcare isn't always the best ($$) but the looking around the world today there's no other place I'd rather be. I love the USA!!!!!

Better be sure you have a secure, well paid job and a health care plan.
America is a great place to live provided you have enough money to live on and can afford health insurance.
I lived and worked in the USA twice, once for two years and once for three.
I liked it a lot, and 99.99% of the people I met were fantastic, warm, friendly and rightfully proud of their country.

Australia is my home, and always will be - I love it here, but if I had to live somewhere else, America would be my choice.

You can always plan a visit but you'll probably find that you like your home best. Anyway, America is greatly varied when it comes to living conditions, so it depends on where you'd like to see and experience things.

It is great. They decide how much of our hard earned money we can keep, how fast we can drive, if we need a seat belt, where our kids go to school, whether or not we need insurance, if we can smoke, and sell us liquor then arrest us after we drink it.
