Longitude is the angular distance east or west of the Prime Meridian which stretches from the North Pole to the South Pole and passes through Greenwich, England.

latitude - An imaginary line joining points on the earth's surface that are all of equal distance north or south of the equator

Longitude allows someone to describe how far east or west they are from Greenwich, England. Lattitude allows someone to describe how far north or south someone is from the equator.

Longitude and latitude are basically invisible lines that people use to show a certain place on a map. I'm not so sure about that, but I'm trying my best to answer your question. Sorry if I didn't answer thoroughly enough.

longitudes are vertical lines dividing earth hypothetically and lattitutdes are horizontal lines

They are imaginary lines.
Latitudes are lines running parallel to the equator.
Lomgitudes are lines which run from pole to pole(south to north or vice-versa).
