My fuel oil furnace won't stay started. I primed the line by opening a valve and closing again. Then I hit reset. The blower/furnace comes on, but only for about 30 seconds. What am I doing wrong.

There is a flame sensor in there. It looks like the lens on a light sensor to turn lights off in the day and on at night. Clean the glass off. It is by the burner and detects ignition. Just clean it with a rag. If that doesn't work you will have to replace it.Usually it gets sooted up and just needs to be cleaned

First thing please ignore those two answers and kirk is not cert heating tech. If you keep hitting the reset you will put to much oil in the chamber and could have an explosion. What you are doing wrong is playing with it. You don't have a wet kit to set up your burner. Its going to cost you more money to fix if you don't call a NORA CERT. HEATING TECH NOT KIRK. Your cad eye could be bad your pump pressure might not be set right you could have to much vacuum in the line. Is it a Hot air furnace or a forced hot water boiler.

Maxhound is correct for the fast easy thing to check. If this eye is working, it is likely you need to replace your fuel filter and nozzle. Of course, you need to prime again afterward.

You didn't specify if there was an active flame - which can be seen through the viewing port (wear safety glasses please)? If not you need to adjust the electrodes and/or verify the transformer is working.
