OK if the water heater is heating water then it's probably ok. If it's not and you are not experienced then I would have a professional check it out (and watch and learn) Electricity is not something for an amateur to mess around with. There are some professionals out there who don't mind teaching (and they are usually more honest than those who refuse to let you watch), just observe and ask well thought out questions and you will learn something and stay safe.

I assume you mean the heating elements?Check and make sure you have power if yes then cut off the power and you should check resistance through the element.If so everything is ok.If not bad element!
