My best friend moved away a while back and since then i haven't really been able to really talk to or open up to anyone, but today i opened up to a male friend of mine and he told me he cared about me. I think he likes me more than a friend and i told him i loved him (like a friend). I don't want him to get clingy or to "fall in love" with me. How can i make sure this doesn't happen without hurting his feelings?

first of all, dont go jumping to conclusions and start worrying about him falling in love with you. until he says something or does something really obvious then you can worry about it. if he does love love love you, be polite and nice in saying you unfortunately cant return his feelings but consider him an amazing friend and would never want to lose that

First, if he's THAT good of a Friend. You should be able to talk to him, really easy. Two, don't count nothing out. There's been lasting relationships, that's started with less. Enjoy his Friendship. enjoy his help. Enjoy being you! Tell him what you're looking for. But thank him for being your Friend. And, who knows, You may be sending out Wedding Announcements, soon enough.

dont be rude but be assertive just tell him straight up that you dont want to get in a serious relationship. If he takes it hard hes gonna be a cling on. just move on. if not wait it out and try to have fun and get him to lighten up and have fun. the easiest way to keep it from getting serious is by not getting serious. uh , you know what i mean.

don't lead him on
if he starts to put his arm around you...kind of pull back and laugh and say, friend dont do that.
that kind of thing.
