No--- they do not hibernate. And they don't migrate, either, like whales etc. I have no idea what 'estivate' means...
But here's an interesting thing about dolphins--- they sleep with their eyes open and swim as they sleep. Often if a pod comes in contact with a boat, the dolphins will track the boat and swim along side of it--- but while they are actually sleeping. I guess it keeps them from running into stuff. How's that for adaptation!

dolphins don t hibernate because they have to come up for air about every 30 minutes and if they were hibernating they would die from lack of oxygen. Estivation is where an animal goes into a coma like state due to extremely hot temperatures. For example in Africa there are a lot of droughts and sometimes the droughts are hot and dry enough to the point of rivers drying out. There are certian species of fish that lives in those river. What they do to not dry out is they burrow into the ground and they eat the wet mud which causes its body to produce mucus which comes out of its gills. Then the fish gets in the puddle of mucus and goes into a very deep sleep which is somewhat coma like. The fish can stay like this for about 4 years then when the first rain after the drought comes the water awakens the fish. That is what estivation is. So because an ocean can not dry up a dolphin can not esticvate. I hope this helps anyone who does not understand why dolphins can not hibernate or estivate.

Hmmm. I've seen numbers of tourists on the beach estivating, but the dolphins are still active. Nor is there any record of them hibernating. Pretty hard to snooze the winter away when you're under water, and dolphins are air-breathers.
