They have the burden of proof...you have the receipt, so I wouldn't worry at all...it's your guitar! Tell them to bog off!!

A real Guitar? Ok, here's some advice for you. If it has a round bowl near the bottom and a rectangular holding tank towards the rear, and has a lever handle on the tank, what your seeing is a toilet and therefore NOT a guitar. Just so you can be completely sure it's not a real guitar. On the other hand, if the item has a neck with 22 frets and 6 strings going from the headstock to the bridge and tailpiece, and if you actually pluck a string or two and it sends out musical tones, chances are you have a real guitar, as opposed to that non-musical sounding toilet you might be tricked into buying if the pawn shop huckster tried convincing you a toilet is a musical instrument. Now if you need help with you life, that could present a problem .

The idea that a lot of stuff in pawn shops is stolen is a myth... for anything of real value that they accept they are required by law to keep a record of where it came from. Kind of discourages thiefs.
Secondly, what are the odds? Blow it off; it's your guitar.

First of all...if you bought this at a pawn shop and had no idea it was a stolen item (which, if it is, you obviously didn't know)....then that person has no claim whatsoever.

It sounds like the jerk is just giving you a bunch of B.S.

If you need addtional advice, send me an email.

That would be like saying hey I found 300 bucks and someone saying I lost 300 dollars it might be mine. With no proof I say it is yours you paid for it legal and they lost a guitar.

statue of limitations... you legally bought it... the pawn shop has-should have a list of hot items.. and ran the guitar though it... its yours on several issues... now morally it is not yours... as a good gesture you can return it and they can pay/buy you another

They must provide proof. No proof, no case.

They would have to have solid evidence to prove that it is theirs.
