I really get the feeling with the bit that i've watched that american idol judges will look past the same weaknesses in an attractive contestant that they see in the over-weight, non-glamorous, and average lookers that aren't as glitzy. What do you think?

I'm new to watching the show, so humor me. Also, I have to agree with some that have said its really hard to watch peoples dreams die. It really is.

I have to aggree with you J B. That's what prompted this question. And the fact that the blonde girl who just came behind her singing Mary J. Blige's "love without a limit" got put through, and was okay but definately not as good as the girl you're referring to. I feel like throwing my hands up in the air.

I get that that girl wasn't like the petite half-shirt mini skirt wearing, long haired young girls that they've had come through but she really did have all the energy, confidence and drive you can ask from any contestant. If nothing else, put her through so we can at least root for the underdog. It just sucked to see her cry at that door and tell them how much was expected of her and her plans to go on to the next round. That just SUCKED completely.

All i know is that they just cheated the "heavyset" young lady who sang "dancing in the streets" She sang that song perfect, So why ask her to sing a slow song when they were all in agreement that the first song was good.

It was very heartbreaking to see her cry at the door and she knew she nailed her audition so sad the way we as a whole not the individual view others image

Yes, they are biased. But that is the way Hollywood is. If you don't fit the mold, you wont go far....usually. Sad to say. But if you are unattractive, you probably won't sell as many records as someone who dresses whorish and simulates sex acts. People base way too much importance on looks these days. I think a person should be judged in life by what kind of person they are... and on American Idol by their talent....but that's obviously not the case.

Yes.

They are looking for someone people will pay money to see and not just listen too on the radio.

yes, that's just the way show business is. if you take someone who is "not attractive" but can really sing, the judges MIGHT put them through the next level but if you take someone that is really good looking and is just a mediocre singer, they'll definetely put them through the next level.
