I have to say the Bulls and MJ would of got finals MVP. MJ is the greatst of all time and he made his team the greatst team of all time. On a cosistant basis no one in history dominated the finals like MJ did, and no team in history dominated a regular season like the 90's Bulls(72-10, best record of all time).

Hey Hoopfan, your facts aren't the truth. You need to change your name. First of all the Celtics never went unbeaten in the playoffs. That 10-0 record is totally false. It hasn't been a team in playoff history to go unbeaten. As matter of fact, Shaq Lakers had the best playoff run in history(16-1). That's when they beat Philly in the finals. Second of all, it's not how many you win it's how you won them. MJ's finals performances, stats, and awards are alot more dominate then Russel was in the finals. How Russel performed in the finals wasn't as dominate, thrilling, and memorable as how MJ did it(check the stats & numbers). Third of all, it doesn't matter about 50-1 at home, and 33 straight wins to a 69-13 record, 72-10 is the better record & more dominate record( you even admitted yourself, you said the Bulls SURPASSED IT..LOL. So quit being a hater and accept the truth. Michael Jordans & the Bulls are THE BEST TEAM IN HISTORY!....And yes MJ would of got finals mvp & the Bulls would of stomped the Lakers.

To: Hoopfan & Tweety;
Okay... I see I'm getting double teamed here by Hoopfan & Tweety. You guys sound like a couple old heads that can't let go of your generation. Just give it up. Michael Jordan was the greatst in the finals and the greatst period. Russell was in the finals 12 times to MJ's 6, and MJ still have more total points in the finals..lol.
Here is the records MJ set in the finals.
The highest point avg. in a series 41.0(1993),
Most consecutive games, 20 or more points, 35 games,
Most consecutive games, 40 or more points, 4 games(1993),
Most points, one half, 35 points(1992),
Most 3 pointers made in one half, 6(1992),
3rd in most points in one game, 55(1993),
2nd in most 30 point consecutive games, 9 games(1992 finals to 1993 finals ),
1991 31.2 ppg, 11.4 apg, 2.80spg, & 1.40bpg,
1992 35.8 ppg, 6.5 apg, 1.67spg, & .033bpg,
1993 41.0 ppg, 6.3 apg, 1.67spg, & 0.67bpg,
1996 27.3 ppg, 4.2 apg, 1.67spg, & 0.17bpg,
1997 32.3 ppg, 6.0 apg, 1.17spg, & 0.83bpg,
1998 33.5 ppg, 2.3 asp, 1.83spg, & 0.67bpg.
6 Finals MVP's, and unbeaten in the finals(6-0).
Hey Tweety, MJ maybe lost a game 7 in the playoffs, but he's unbeaten in the finals(6-0). What about Russell? Ooops, he's (11-1 in the finals)..lol.
And about dealing with Kareem, that wouldn't been a problem they couldn't handle. The Bulls had to deal with plenty of great centers and pulled it off. They handled the greatst center of all time, Shaq with a star like Penny, and other centers like Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Morning, and plenty others. And to pretty much some it all up, the Bulls beat the Lakers(4-1, 1991), and Magic was presently at his prime. So don't give me that Magic was old crap, because he was still 2nd to MJ in the league....And after that Magic went on to accomplish great things, his last all-star mvp, oly. medal & performed good, and the fact that he was in the finals was proof enough he was still great. About Kareem being the scoring leader: That's a joke! Look how many years Kareem played compared to MJ. MJ retired how many time? You, I, and everyone else knows that if MJ wouldn't never retired and played until he was fading, he would of broken that all time scoring leader record with less amount of years that Kareem had, and he would of had like 11 or 12 championships.
And Tweety.. another thing. I'm responding to a comment of yours to another question. Dr J v.s. Kareem? How could you use that as a valid point? Dr J at his prime would of killed Kareem. Kareem was the last to retire so he was in better basketball shape. Plus styles makes matches. Dr J's style of playing was for a
younger guy. If they both played at thier prime, Dr J would of killed him. Don't compare players thats already faded. Now to you Hoopfan: You are a hypocrite. You're study putting down the ara MJ played in but at the sametime trying to put Russel over MJ. If MJ & his Bulls played in Russels ara(when guards was alot smaller and the only 7 footer was Wilt) Russel woundn't had not one ring. MJ & his Bulls would of shut the NBA down...PERIOD! Now just accept that MJ's the greatst.
Wait I had to come back again.. Who cares about Bill Walton's opion? Magic played against(practice), and with Kareem... And you know what he said & what alot of other players said? He said, It's us but then thier is MJ. The NBA is full of great players that's on the same level but MJ is in a league of his on. Magic also said he was happy to play on the Dream Team because he always wanted to play along side the greatst player ever(MJ). Now if Kareem was better then MJ he wouldn't had never said such a thing. Now that's Magic's opion. Who cares about Walton? He didn't even play the same position as MJ..lol.... To sum it up agian.. You guys talking about Russel & Kareem, well how about this. MJ is not only a top 50 in the NBA, he was also voted the top Athlete in history with Ali being 2nd... Now what do you guys have to say about that?
"Only a idiot would think Russel wasn't as dominate as MJ in the finals". Tweety... You're nuts and very ignorant to sports... As matter of fact, you're very ignorant to reality. After the stats you and Hoops(LMAO) showed of Russel, and the stats/records I showed of MJ, how could one say that Russel was as dominant in the finals? MJ stats was alot better(go to BostonCeltics.com & look up Russel, It says "Russels stats wasn't very great but it was his will to win that got him there"), MJ set multiple finals record compared to Russels few(in rebounds only), MJ have more total points in his 6 finals to Russel's 12 finals(now you guys was bringing up all-time scoring leaders to better Kareem, now what do you have to say about MJ out scoring Russel in the finals, and Russel doubles how many times MJ's been in the finals?..lol), and MJ is unbeaten in the finals.... After all them facts, I'd have to say only a idiot would think that Russell was as great/dominate as MJ in the finals.

Tweety & Hoops... Wow... You guys are really funny...lol. Rebounds are good but points are alot better(what if a team got 100 rebounds with 0 points and the other team gets 0 rebounds with 1 point, who win?...lol.). Points are the most important stats...And the only reason why Russell didn't shoot as much as MJ is because he wasn't that good at scoring..lol...... Hoops I read your answer on the MJ's 63 or Kobe's 81( So I know you have hope) but what is this about? You said MJ coulndn't score on Russell....lol. PLEEESSSEE! MJ would of maid a poster out of Russell...lol. MJ dunked on all types of great centers and there wasn't a defense that could stop him. Let me name a few of them centers that MJ jammed on. Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning, Manute Bol( 7ft. 7 tallest player in history), Matombo(was well respected for blocks, as matter of fact he have records in blocks), and etc... I could go on forever..... You know what? My next question on here is going to be MJ v.s. Russell. I bet you MJ gets more love.
Wow Tweety! You still want some of this, huh? My argument is KILLING the both of yours! I've been usings your own statements against ya'll. Well you want some more, well here's some more.!
ESPN: How could you down the number 1 respected sports company in the WORLD? You're being a hypocrite because I bet you watch ESPN!...and another thing, you're downing ESPN but giving your opion! I don't see you being a multi-millionnaire for dealing with sports..lol. I don't see people tuning in to you...lol. You think you get more respect then ESPN?..lol. You're crazy....And since you're around 50 or 60 somethin you think you know everything..lol. Don't you know ESPN got people in their 50's, 60's, & 70's working for them? Sports people who goes to school, watches every game, studies the past for facts, and base their careers off of sports........ I can't believe I'm actually debating MJ & Russell! That's like debating D-Wade & Ben Wallace...and anyone in their right mind would pick Wade!. .....And stop putting words in my mouth, I never said rebounds isn't important. I actually respect rebounds over assit, but the fact is, that scoring is the most important stat of them all. Who scores the most wins. You can rebound all you want, but if you can't score you're not going to win. Comparing points to rebounds is like comparing punches to dodges in boxing..lol. Punches is how you score & win, dodging is just making the other boxer have a low punch %. So if one boxer lands(scores) 1000 punches but landed 35% of his punches thrown & his opponent lands 200 punches but his punch % was 70%, how do you think they going to score it? Do you think they'll be like, he hit him 800 more times but he missed to many punches, so we're going to give to the guy with a higher punch % that have 800 less punches?...lol. Nooooo... They going to be like, the guy who got hit 1000 times took way to much punishment and the guy who landed the 1000 punches out worked him, and the winner is, THE GUY WHO LANDS THE 1000 PUNCHES! Because punches is how you score in fights, and dodging is just defense & making someone miss. Just like basketball, scoring is how you win, rebounds is just giving you more opporitunites to score( it doesn't mean you'll always score)..... And if rebounds was better then scoring, well why didn't the best rebounder in history(by stats & records) Dennis Rodman get any finals MVP's? Why do people look at MJ as being much greater then Rodman?.... Now to sum it all up, MJ got defense player of the year(1988) and he was on NBA's All-Defense 1ST TEAM, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 97, 98,( 8 different years) so he didn't just score, he played both ends of the court. Just quit debating and accept that MJ was the GREATST, & if you can't accept that, at least accept the fact that he was better then Russell. MJ was a much better scorer, a amazing clutch shooter, broken records upon records, and is well respected on both sides if the court. MJ's ara was alot tougher then Russells(a 6'6 guard didn't exist) & the only 7 footer was Wilt. It was a much smaller & less talented NBA!....And last but not least,(on who was more dominate in the finals) just google up NBA Finals records. You'll see MJ's name in there alot more times you'll see Russells..... Just face it! MJ's the greatst!..... He proved it and he deserve all his praises!

Any one of the 1980's Lakers teams would run all over ANY of the 90's Bulls teams.

First off, the Bulls have no answer for Kareem. Bill Cartwright? Yeah right. Luc Longley? Give me a break! Kareem would pretty much score at will.

The Lakers were also a much better passing team, and also ran the fast break as well as any team in history. They would literally run the Bulls off the court.

Jordan would get his points, but that would be about it for Chicago. They will go down with their best man shooting.

As far as no one in history dominating in the finals....have you ever heard of Bill Russell?!? He's got 11 championships to Jordan's 6. That's domination!!

And as far as the 72-10 Bulls dominating the regular season, they seriously benifitted from expansion. There were 29 teams in the talent-diluted 90's when Chicago won their 72 games, and I think at least 7 or 8 of those wins were against 1st year teams. They would not have come close to 70 wins had they played in the 80's.

The 1971-72 Lakers won 33 straight en route to a 69-13 season (the record until the Bulls surpassed that). The 1985-86 Celtics went 50-1 at home (including 10-0 in the playoffs). The 96 Bulls never came close to this. Either of those teams would also absolutely destroy the 90's Bulls.

EDIT... in response to jdwj76 > What I said was the Celtics went 10-0 "AT HOME" in the playoffs. Their TOTAL playoff record that year was 15-3

Other than that, your post is completely ignorant (with all due respect). " Its not how much you win, its how you win"? Yet, the Celtics 50-1 home record and the Lakers 33 straight wins means nothing. Its the fact that the Bulls won 72 games. Sounds contradictory to me.

Again, the Bulls won their 72 games against poor competition and a bunch of expansion teams. You can't compare their competition to the Celtics and Lakers.

And FYI...Bill Russell averaged 18 point and 30 rebounds in his 11 finals victories. And, thats before they even kept track of blocked shots, in which case his stats for that would have been off the charts. Sorry, but Jordan' numbers pale compared to this

Not hating, just reality

BACK AGAIN...Dude, maybe you didn't read that right. I said Bill Russell AVERAGED 30 REBOUNDS PER GAME IN 11 FINALS!.. Who, in the last 25 years has even come close to that. If Jordan played when Russell did, he wouldn't have gotten anywhere near the basket.

Other than scoring, Jordan's stats are mediocre at best. And the only reason he scored so much is because he took more shots than anybody else.

And regarding the 91 finals, Magic was NOT in his prime. He was in his 12th season, and the Lakers were injured and shouldn't have even been in the finals.

Getting back to the original question...... Chicago's only hope of pulling out a victory would be to get the Lakers in foul trouble. Other than that, I see the Lakers winning this running away.

LAKERS IN FIVE!!

I'd have to go with the 1980 Lakers. All they would have to do was to guard MJ really well and force the team to make outside shots and 3's. You have to remember that the 1980's Lakers had the two of the top three players in history (Magic and Kareem), Big Game James, and the best coach in NBA history (Pat Riley). Also all of the players in the Lakers of this era, were 6-7 and above. MJ is 6'6". The starting lineup was 6-9 and above. One more thing that you have to consider are the rules. If they played by the 90's rules it would be alot closer if they played by the 80's rules.

Way to much info History Professor up above me, To answer the Question as mentioned in the first place. The 90's Bulls, the era of the 2 consecutive 3 peats would have definitely beat the showtime Lakers of the 80's.

Those Bulls were breezing thru all the competiton and no one had an answer for MJ. They were a complete and balanced team from starters to bench.

wow thats a good one. but i think the lakers would take it. MJ is the best player of all time but magic isnt far behind. he made his team better just like jordan did. but what tips the scale in favor of the lakers for me is kareem. nobody can stop the sky hook not rodman not anyone. he scored the most pts in nba history and i think if you put him with magic and worthy than you can compete with jordan, pippen, and rodman.
