Tone color usually refers to the timbre of an interment. It is what distinguishes one type of instrument from another. For
example, middle C played on a piano is recognizably different from a middle C played on a violin. Although they are the same note the color is different. It has to do with what is called harmonic overtones; (the way the strings vibrate). The tone color can also be effected by the way the interment is played, or by what is technically call "attack and release". (The manner in which the string is set into motion, and how it is stopped.) This is greatly subjective and depends the individual player. So the tone color of the piano can be described as varied.

The original name for a piano was pianoforte which means soft/loud. It was named so because of is ability to be played in that respective manner. Another way to describe the tone color of the piano is by the feelings it invokes when heard. A soft melancholy piece could be said to be somber. So the color tone of the piano could be said to be somber. If a piece is bright and lively the piano could be said to possess a vibrant color.

There is much more to be said about tone color but this should help you some, Good luck!

Yes, the pedals effect the color tone of the piano, they are used under what I explained as being the attack and release.

You could say that the tone color is like the brightness of it's notes.

Tone color is the same as timbre. It's when two sounds of the same pitch and loudness are different. It's more like touch than sight, sounds are called "warm" or "harsh"

Have you even listened to the piece once? Go on the Internet, find a recording of the piece, listen to it, and be done with it.
