Opinion on poetry?

I'm 16, I've never taken any creative writing classes and I was just wondering if anyone here could give me some pointers on making my writing stronger.

Thanks so much! :D

I personally suggest "Drinking Starlight in the Rain" as it is my favourite piece of work and the one I am most proud of. Thank you :).

Well, I read the one you suggested,and...well..wow. I am honestly impressed. Which is no mean feat, as I am cynical and not given to quick and easy praise.
The only criticism I have is...it winds about a little bit. Just a trifle off, not much...
My only suggestion? Pay a bit more attention to editing...spelling errors as well as verb tense will kill you every time. Also, please, take a course on creative writing, and get better! With the right help we'll see you published....(then we can all sit around and post questions about you)

Actually I quite liked it. I thought that some of the metaphysical imagery was particularly effective. Interesting rhythmic devices too, which seemed to counterpoint the surrealism of the underlying metaphor of the humanity of the poet's compassionate soul, which contrives through the medium of the verse structure to sublimate this, transcend that, and come to terms with the fundamental dichotomies of the other and one is left with a profound and vivid insight into whatever it was the poem is about!

You'r welcome!

"Drinking" stark, crisp imagery for a story!
Tightly wound up emotional senses
Kept in check
Raging about the Universe --

sorry, I'm a poet. I tend to go on that way myself.
