What kind of player is Cliff when healthy?

He's a good player when healthy, good for 25 HRs a year or so. But that's just it- you can pencil him in for at least 30 games on the DL every year.

If they got him cheap, it's not bad. Though that guarantees Soriano will be playing center field, won't it?

As a Cardinals fan, I feel the same way most Cubs fans do at the beginning of the season and this year is no exception. This could be the Cubs' year. Floyd is a good player when he is heathly. Health is a major factor every year for a lot of team and the Cubs are no exception. While I wish the Cubs didn't look so good, it makes for an exciting season when the Cards and Cubs finish 1-2 by a few games. Here's to another exciting season. See you on April 27!

He's not worth the Cubs getting. The Cubs have had enough problems with injury prone players. They do not need sign another DL journeyman like Cliff Floyd.

Unfortunately for the Cubs, Cliff Floyd's better days are behind him. The many injuries that he has had in his career have finally taken their toll on him. He may have occasional flashes of his old self, but over the long season, he just will not play up to his old standard. Good utility player and pinch hitter now, can no longer play regularly with consistency.

If Floyd gets regular playing time, then I hate this deal. It locks Soriano into CF and it really screws Matt Murton and Ryan Theriot. The Cubs need to see what these two can do and they won't see anything if they're consistently riding the pine. If I didn't know he had already been sacked, I'd say this was the type of move that had Dusty's prints all over it.

That's the problem Floyd is rarely very at 100%. The poor Cubs really don't need any more broken down injury prone players.

The team is trying to contend this year and Floyd would not be a good addition at this point.

You can't exactly call it a bad deal. Cliff Floyd, when somewhat healthy in 2005, played in 150 games, hit 34 HRs, 98 RBIs, and had a .273 average. He's a poorman's Jacque Jones with more power and for less money.

I'm excited about this pickup.

As a die hard Mets fan, I've seen Cliff the last few years. He's a very streaky player....he'll go 4 for 69 with 1 homerun, then go like 22 for 58 with 7 homeruns. He's the type of player that will do anything for his team to help them win. He's a very classy player and I was sorry to see him go, but I think his best days are behind him. Thanks for the memories Cliff!!

No. The poor Cubs don't need anothe flat tire that has 20 patches. Everytime you pump it up it has a leak 40 minutes later.

Cliff Floyd lives on the DL.

It's a good pick up for 3 million dollars, especially if he is healthy because if he is, he will most likely produce. For 3 million it's a pretty good risk though, it could end up being a really good deal or they can just get out of it cheaply. I wish the A's would have went after him for that kind of money.
